Great individuals

I'm interested in comics. There are a few fantastic comics artists whom I admire.

Art Spiegelman is an American Jew with Polish roots. His parents came from Southern Poland, they found themselves in the States after the WW 2. Spiegelman is a Pulitzer Prize winner for his incredible comics entitled 'MAUS'. The comics tells the story of Spiegalman's father, Władek Spiegelman, former Aushwitz prisoner. The comics is a masterpiece as it presents Holocaust in the most extraordinary and moving way ever. It is quite controversial at the same time; Spiegelman portrays the Jewish as mice, the Polish as pigs, or the German as cats. He doesn't idolize Jews, quite the opposite, Władek is distrustful and mean as hell;]

Spiegelman accomplished something exceptional. He presented his controversial vision of Holocaust regardless obstacles.

Marianne Satrapi is another distinguished comics artist. Her unbelievable 'PERSEPOLIS' stunned me. She's Iranian and therefore she's gone through a series of tough experiences. Still, she seems a great charismatic woman. She has her ups and downs, about which she's piercingly frank, which is really impressive.
