Great individuals

I'm interested in comics. There are a few fantastic comics artists whom I admire.

Art Spiegelman is an American Jew with Polish roots. His parents came from Southern Poland, they found themselves in the States after the WW 2. Spiegelman is a Pulitzer Prize winner for his incredible comics entitled 'MAUS'. The comics tells the story of Spiegalman's father, Władek Spiegelman, former Aushwitz prisoner. The comics is a masterpiece as it presents Holocaust in the most extraordinary and moving way ever. It is quite controversial at the same time; Spiegelman portrays the Jewish as mice, the Polish as pigs, or the German as cats. He doesn't idolize Jews, quite the opposite, Władek is distrustful and mean as hell;]

Spiegelman accomplished something exceptional. He presented his controversial vision of Holocaust regardless obstacles.

Marianne Satrapi is another distinguished comics artist. Her unbelievable 'PERSEPOLIS' stunned me. She's Iranian and therefore she's gone through a series of tough experiences. Still, she seems a great charismatic woman. She has her ups and downs, about which she's piercingly frank, which is really impressive.

Monday, 2014

Five years from now...
I'm 28!! My God. I guess I'm married and perhaps I'm pregnant. Around 30 would be a good time for a baby, I presume. It might sound stupid but if I am to be honest this is what my vision is. As far as my professional life, I won't invent anything but hopefully it'll be something challenging pleasant and well-paid at the same time. I believe in an optimistic life scenario, there are no reasons to think otherwise. I imagine myself in a cosy flat somewhere in the city, still close to my family. It would be great to lead active and interesting life, full of friends, animals, and adventures.

teaching practice

To be or not to be a teacher?: this is the question. And, frankly speaking, I still haven't made up my mind. The life will show, I guess. Still, I believe that this profession might give you considerable amount of satisfaction. There are so many institutions you can choose from, so many places where they do need English teachers...
Anyway, I'm supposed to say a few words concerning my experiences with teaching. For a few years now I've been a private tutor, I've met lots of nice people and I've got to know Poznan pretty well. These meetings at other people's places are an effective way of earning a little bit and practising your own English. I was a teaching assistant in a little Spanish pueblo;) called Alcala la Real, which hasn't made me neither rich in new useful experiences nor wiser. Still, it provided me with some Euro banknotes at the end of the month;) Then my Polish classes came. The children I met were really cooperative and enthusiastic. There were, obviously, some technical problems: too little time, too many activities, tasks that were too difficult etc.
This is it. Hopefully, some more interesting experiences await me in the future. Otherwise, I would commit suicide. Cya.

Childhood stuff

Hi everyone!

Hope your Xmas as well as New Year's Eve were great.

The picture on the left shows me and my best friend. I'm the one in the back. I don't know what this crooked smile means;] We're best friends still, although, as it happens between people, we've had our ups and downs. Nevertheless, we love each other very much.

MUSIC

Waglewski, Fisz, Emade- a well-known father, rock musician and guitarist decided to record an album with his two talented sons- Fisz, modern hip hop artist and lyricist and Emade, hip hop producer. This collaborative project, as they themselves claim, will not be repeated. This is my most recent inspiration.

Now, a bit of Tworzywo Sztuczne- Fisz and Emade, check out this video.

Daft Punk- cllasics of electronic music, "Da funk": one of the best videos, I recon. Somehow, I couldn't forget it.

Uffie- a bit more hardcore, perhaps, I'm not sure. Uffie is 18 and she's from Miami. Currently she lives in Paris and cooperates with the producer Feadz they make electronic hip hop, but comparing their music to Fisz's electro/hip hop, there's lot more electro in here than hip hop. Best party music in my opinion. Uffie knows how to have fun;)

Mr Oizo- another classic of electronic music, I guess. He's French and he has a long beard. He's widely recognised for his "Flat beat", do you remember Fat Eric?

Electric Light Orchestra- a bit of old school. Sounds of my childhood.

BLACHOWNIA rules!

I'm from Lower Silesia. I'm from the South. Somehow I found myself among all you northerners, which makes me even more special.
Now, a bit more seriously. Blachownia is a small town, but town still (13,322 inhabitants), in the outskirts of the holy city of Czestochowa with its magnificent sacred tower. We, that is the dwellers of Blachownia, have always been in the shadow of Czestochowa, still we could enjoy all these things that were unattainable to the people from the city. We have an artificial contaminated lake, which still seems a good destination when having a walk; we have a recently renovated stadium where the local football team experiences triumphs but most often defeats that nobody cares about; we have two tennis courts, which are always busy so you can't use them anyway; we can hang out in one pizza place and one pub, so the night life is thriving; we go for shopping sprees to three secondhand shops, where the smell of cigarettes is as unbearable so that you leave after four minutes.
I realised that my serious description became not as serious as it was supposed to be.
So, I'll start all over again. Recently my beautiful rural hometown has been violently brought to its knees by an unstopable whirlwind. Enormous part of the forests has been destroyed, the roofs of the houses were scattered with holes, even the cross from the church tower was swept down to the ground. It was a personal tragedy for each one of us. We felt as if we were all in the movie "Twister", I think that my mum couldn't resist from pretending that she played the main famale role...
Check this out.

So, to finish my post a bit more romantically, I'll have to confess that I love my hometown, with its every street that I know by heart, or, perhaps, not every street, just a few of them:))
